The app

Settings

Where Graphide's settings live, the ones most people change, themes, and settings for one project.

Settings, at the foot of the sidebar or with Ctrl+,, has every setting with what it does. A change takes effect at once and is saved to your settings file.

The settings file

Settings are kept in one TOML file, config.toml:

System Where it is
Linux ~/.config/graphide/config.toml, or under $XDG_CONFIG_HOME
macOS ~/Library/Application Support/Graphide/config.toml

The app’s own settings are its [gred] table. You can edit the file by hand while Graphide runs. A key Graphide does not know is kept and warned about, and a value it cannot use falls back to its default and is named, so a typo never stops the app. The file holds no secrets: your sign-in is in the system keychain.

[gred]
base = "normal" # the window: "normal" or "vim"
theme = "ink" # "ink" is Graphide Dark, "marble" Graphide Light
reducedmotion = false

What most people change

Setting In the file What it does
Editor mode base The window: Normal or Vim. See A tour of the app.
How keys behave editing Standard or Vim typing, whichever the window
Theme theme Graphide Dark or Graphide Light
Density density How tightly things are spaced; below 1 is tighter
Zoom zoom The size of the whole interface
Reduce motion reducedmotion Cuts glides, flights and pops
Buttons and key names chrome Full draws buttons and writes keys in words, such as Ctrl+S. Minimal leaves them out and writes keys as Vim does.
Controls like The mouse on the map, in another program’s habits
Show agents on the map overlays Each agent’s mark on the map
Format on save format_on_save Off at first
Open agents as agent.open An agent’s page, or its terminal
Enter in an agent’s box agent.enter Whether Enter sends and stays, or sends and opens the next agent
Snooze for agent.snooze How long Ctrl+M snoozes an agent; half an hour at first
Sidebar lists agent.sidebar To-do (agents by what they need) or Projects
Notifications notify Whether the app tells you when an agent needs you

Themes

Graphide Dark (ink) is deep blue-green, and Graphide Light (marble) is pale stone. Choose one in Settings under Appearance, and the whole app fades to it.

To follow your system’s light and dark, give theme both:

[gred]
theme = { dark = "ink", light = "marble", follow = "system" }

Settings, Look, picks a preset that changes the app’s whole look beyond its colours. Presets of your own go in a presets folder beside the settings file.

Settings for one project

A project’s own .graphide/config.toml can set a few settings for that project alone: the theme, and Vim options such as scrolloff, number, relativenumber, ignorecase and smartcase. Settings marks each one a project may set. The same file holds what to leave out of the map.
